Manages the pharmacy program, including the drug formulary, drug information systems, pharmaceutical contracting, and staff supervision in a manner that will assure a consistently cost effective and quality pharmacy program.
Manages and coordinates the overall operations of pharmacy services and personnel in accordance with all federal and state laws related to the storage, compounding and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs.
Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for pharmacy services in keeping with state, federal and University rules and regulations.
Aligns and maintains effective processes and workflows.
Develops the budget and ensures department operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards. Provides leadership and expertise to pharmacy staff including: clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws. Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff. Knowledge of computer and technology systems and software including pharmacy information systems. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
