Be a vital part of a team-focused department, performing accurate phlebotomy and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients. Support lab operations with essential clerical, computer, and courier tasks, making a real impact on patient care every day.
Responsibilities:
provide courteous, professional interaction with all laboratory customers and respond promptly to telephone inquiries.
Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick following proper patient identification; instruct patients on specimen collection as needed.
Demonstrate reliability, independent judgment, and prioritize tasks to meet departmental needs.
Perform specimen collection at off-site locations and safely transport samples to the lab.
Follow all laboratory and hospital policies, including safety, quality control, and infection prevention protocols.
Complete clerical duties such as data entry, test ordering, cancellations, and billing using lab information systems.
Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as assigned.
Report any unusual or problematic incidents to technical staff or supervisors.
Perform arterial punctures when required, adhering to strict guidelines.
Monitor and maintain supply inventory, ensuring cost-effective use of materials and reagents
REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED:
Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred.
Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy is preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
