Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. Your expertise in physiotherapy and knowledge of anatomy will be essential in assisting patients with their rehabilitation goals.
Duties
- Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide hands-on patient care, including therapeutic exercises, trigger point therapy, and modalities as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Monitor patient progress and report changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, exercises, and home care strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and progress notes in accordance with facility policies.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care post-treatment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes across various settings such as acute care, geriatrics, orthopedics, pediatrics, and outpatient clinics.
- Uphold medical terminology standards while communicating effectively with healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or equivalent experience required.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy is essential for effective patient assessment and treatment.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities or home health settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with discharge planning processes and care plans is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to physiotherapy practices.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on compassionate patient care.
