Job Description: Piano Accompanist
The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is seeking a Piano Accompanist for the 2025-26 school year.
Overall Objective:
To provide piano accompaniment for Eurythmy classes in Grades 1 through 8.
Time requirement 10 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficient in playing the piano and reading sheet music.
- Good communicator
Preferred:
- Experience in accompaniment; coordinating playing with other musicians, singers or dancers under the direction of a lead teacher.
- Experience in a school or group setting.
- Familiarity with or interest in learning about Waldorf education.
Responsibilities:
- Play the piano for all Eurythmy classes, and any Eurythmy performances or assemblies.
- Practice clear, thorough, and timely communication with the Eurythmy teacher.
- Weekly planning meeting with Eurythmy Teacher
- Assigned recess and dismissal duties during scheduled time on campus
- Be available for school-related duties during Eurythmy periods even if the Eurythmy teacher is absent due to illness or other circumstances such as a tour or training.
- Welcome to attend festivals, assemblies, fairs, other all-school events and/or open houses.
- Address conflicts and interpersonal problems in accordance with the HVWS Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy.
Time Involvement:
This is a part-time position and follows the established school calendar. The specific days and hours needed would be Tuesdays, 11am - 3pm; Thursdays, 11am – 2pm and Fridays, 11am – 1pm, plus one additional hour to be determined based on meeting with teacher and other community duties.
