The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Planned Giving Manager to support our fundraising efforts as a key member of the Planned Giving Department. Reporting to the Planned Giving Officer, this role is crucial in promoting a culture of philanthropy and nurturing relationships with donors, corporations, foundations, financial institutions, and friends of the ADA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and existing donors, including those identified through direct mail marketing, digital marketing, and self-identification. This includes members of the Planned Giving Recognition Society: The Camille Circle.
  • Provide strategic support for fundraising efforts around high-priority ADA initiatives. Assist in setting strategic direction and meeting goals for the planned giving and bequest programs in coordination with the Planned Giving Officer, Estate team, and other key members within the organization.
  • Support the Planned Giving Officer in closing gifts from top planned giving prospects when needed. Assist with administrative assignments, including working with donors, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Support the Planned Giving team in day-to-day fundraising activities, including cultivation and stewardship activities, managing marketing projects, and completing outreach as outlined in the department communication calendar.
  • Work alongside all members of the Planned Giving and Estate Administration team to meet both team and department goals.
  • Achieve agreed-upon metrics.
  • Foster a culture of high performance, integrity, and continuous professional growth, emphasizing learning and a commitment to quality work within the development team.
  • Oversee communication and cultivation for prospects identified through the digital planned giving marketing program.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a planned giving, development or fundraising position.
  • Proven track record of developing relationships with donors and colleagues.
  • Ability to learn various types of software, including donor database software and other ADA-specific computer programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in a high-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Accomplished oral and written communication skills, from telephone connections to handwritten notes.
  • Highly developed sense of collegiality.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
