Toole Design is the leading engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. As an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm, we have also been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.
Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
A Day in the Life of a Planner I/II
As a Planner you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that delivers multimodal transportation projects with a focus on transit and active transportation modes (bicycle, pedestrian, and micromobility). Our Kansas City office serves the Kansas City metropolitan region as well as communities in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. We also regularly support work across the company’s multiple offices. You will get to work with staff who are passionate about the work and the communities that we serve as we tackle fun and challenging projects such as multimodal plans and corridor studies; Vision Zero, Safe Routes to School and Safety Action Plans; transit studies; wayfinding plans; and Complete Streets and streetscape plans. What unites all our work is our mission: we never accept a project that does not align with our values. We think about equity, climate, safety, and health every step of the way. In the Planner I or II role, you will use your analytical skills, creativity, and critical thinking as you support projects, lead analysis, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You’ll work collaboratively with teams of planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers. Typical types of project work you can expect include plan writing; data analysis; production of maps, graphics, and presentations; community engagement; and occasional field work.
We are targeting a salary range of $54,000-$62,000 for this position.
Work Schedule
