ABOUT THE JOB - PLANNER SPECIALIST
Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Environment: Monday – Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours
Pay Range: 65-70k
Job Summary
We are looking for a Planner Specialist to create and maintain production schedules, ensuring efficient workflow, and optimizing manufacturing processes. You will develop and maintain production schedules, often using ERP systems, to meet customer demands and inventory targets. As a Planner Specialist, you will coordinate with various departments, manage resources, and analyze production data to meet deadlines and minimize delays. You will coordinate and communicate between operations, sales, engineering, Quality and purchasing to achieve these goals.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Working closely with the materials management & long-range planner to determine the needs and constraints of the manufacturing shop floor, technicians and schedules work accordingly.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and other teams to ensure smooth production operations.
- Coordinate the movement of materials, track inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of parts to the production floor.
- Explaining difficult issues and works to build alignment around a complex situation.
- Release and manage Work orders.
- Overseeing the process for schedule changes and ensuring root causes for volatility are resolved.
- Track production metrics, analyze delays and bottlenecks, and identify areas for improvement.
- Help push resolutions for NCR’s.
- Accountable for accurate site capacity planning support and alignment with manufacturing capacity planning.
- Identify planning opportunities to improve production processes, reduce lead times, and minimize costs.
- Accountable for the effective and efficient support of all Supply Chain Planning operations.
- Works with local team to drive better planning utilization and achieve revenue goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite programs, including excellent Excel skills (ability to understand and develop macros preferred), and SAP
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
- Understanding of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing business unit input used for material planning.
- Good personal discipline and an ability to work within set deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate people and tasks, follow up and work with a sense of urgency.
- Assist with the preparation of meetings and presentation materials and coordinate reporting requests.
- Must be able to demonstrate problem-solving ability and be able to work safely, effectively, and efficiently without direct supervision.
- Proficient understanding of safety practices within operations.
- Extensive knowledge of capacity and materials planning.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- A self-starter who is solutions-driven and can produce results.
- Strong analytical reasoning and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree, Business, Logistics, Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management.
- 2+ years of experience in planning and scheduling in a manufacturing environment (Oil and Gas preferred).
- 2+ years of SAP experience required.
- 1-2 years Supply Chain/Logistics/Manufacturing experience or similar skill set.
- Work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- APICS certification.
