What you will do
You will procure standard production materials, components, and indirect materials and supplies that meet the operation’s requirements.
How you will do it
- Provides tactical support for senior level buyers and purchasing manager on routine procurement issues, i.e. invoice and receipt discrepancies, expediting orders.
- Procures assigned materials to meet the goals of JCI regarding inventory turns, cost, quality, and customer requirements.
- Places purchase orders for assigned materials and supplies, and communicates blanket order/ master scheduling/ forecasting requirements to suppliers. Recommends most economical lot size for purchasing specific components to support inventory and cost goals.
- Assists with conducting quoting activities for standard components to ensure best total cost for assigned commodities.
- Supports commodity cost reduction, lead time reduction and supplier consolidation for less complex projects.
- Provides tactical support for inventory management programs with supply base that includes vendor stocking, consignment, vendor-managed inventory, etc. Supports company goals for minority owned and small disadvantaged business suppliers.
- Maintains data integrity of the purchasing module database.
- Provides assistance to the materials group in expediting and de-expediting purchase orders.
- Assists with setting standard costs on assigned commodities.
- Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision. Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
- Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
What we look for
- Bachelor’s degree in business or two (2) years’ experience in purchasing, material planning or production controls.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in a team environment desirable.
