Job Description: Plant Manager
Company Overview
Alcrete is a GROWING manufacturer of precast concrete products used in new construction. The company’s products include Round Precast, Square Precast, Precast Box Culverts, Underground Detention Systems, and End Treatments. Alcrete’s products are primarily for the movement of stormwater and wastewater and purchased by excavating, utility, grading, and site contractors.
Alcrete operates from precast manufacturing facilities located in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina with a corporate office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Position Overview
The role of the Plant Manager at Alcrete is to oversee and lead all manufacturing aspects of the company. Specific focus will be on safety, team member development, efficiency, quality, and plant profitability. The Plant Manager reports directly to the site’s General Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead a safety focused culture striving for zero safety accidents while treating all team members with respect.
- Ensure the team delivers to established productions schedule efficiently
- Develop and retain production, quality, and maintenance team members.
- Establish plant efficiency goals and drive improvement of key performance measures.
- Accountable for driving lean manufacturing and 5S strategies to ensure they are fully embraced and implemented. Maintain a clean and organized facility that aligns with company 5S standards.
- Ensure product quality including elimination of internally culled structures and customer quality concerns.
- Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program for all company equipment and assets.
- Communicate with Project Managers to ensure the plant has the necessary team and production resources to efficiently complete customer requirements.
- Review of monthly financial statements to understand opportunities for cost and margin improvement.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5S and Lean experience a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Financial and business acumen.
- Experience with precast concrete is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Required to bend, kneel and reach above head
- Must be able to climb ladders (up and down) to review product
