Mrs. Klein's Kosher Pickle Co. is a family-owned business that has been delighting customers since 1945. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, we pride ourselves on using traditional pickle recipes and sourcing fresh, vine-ripened cucumbers from local farms to create our beloved kosher dill pickles.
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Plant Manager to oversee our production facility in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of plant operations, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the production facility to ensure efficient workflow.
- Implement and manage continuous improvement processes to enhance productivity and quality.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene.
- Manage supply chain logistics to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
- Lead and develop plant staff through training and performance management.
- Collaborate with other departments to align production goals with company objectives.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and reduce waste.
Requirements
Plant Manager must maintain the policies that have been set forth by the company, in both safety and quality. This position reports to both the Vice President and the President of Mrs. Klein’s Kosher Pickle Company. The Plant Manager is also part of the Food Safety Team and is the back-up in the event that either the Vice President or the QA/QC Manager is not available. The position includes the following items but is not limited to:
- Understand and enforce Mrs. Klein’s GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Understand and enforce Mrs. Klein’s Brush and Container color coding program (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)
- Understand and enforce Mrs. Klein HACCP program and CCPs (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
- Understand and enforce the safe use of all cleaning chemicals
- Must have knowledge of all machine operations.
- Confer with operators regarding equipment and machine malfunctions.
- Assure good communication and coordination between departments to complete assigned tasks.
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Schedules preventive maintenance; repairs and maintains Plant machines and equipment.
- Own the work order process, to ensure all incoming work orders are completed in a timely manner.
- Adjust functional parts as well as examine the form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspect parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
- Research and recommends new solutions and upgrades.
- Maintain inventory of all raw materials.
- Tests newly installed machines and equipment to verify readiness for operation.
- Performs all duties in compliance with existing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), State, Federal, and company regulations, policies and procedures (including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and safety regulations), including using all required PPE(Personal Protective Equipment)
- Assists with training of new employees to ensure that they are familiar with the equipment and operation
- Cleans and organizes the work area as needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to stand and walk around for up to 12 hours per day.
- Must be able to read and/or write either Spanish or English proficiently enough to fill out forms for tracking of maintenance quality purposes.
- Flexibility and teamwork a must.
- Assure good communication and coordination between departments to complete assigned tasks.
- Comfortable speaking to a group.
- Understand and verify consistent implementation of Company Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Set up, inspect, and test machinery for the day’s Plant. Inform VP Operations or Maintenance Manager of any issues that affect operation, safety, or quality.
- Assure packaging materials are to the line.
- Have labels printed or brought to the line. Verify match of labels to Plant Schedule.
- Verify correct ingredients and brine are to the line.
- Assure that employees are prepared for work, observing Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) and prepared with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assign jobs and document on Crew Sheet.
- Set Process Flow
- First unit check of product: Application of ingredients as in specification, correct cap date, correct label and label application, correct box print.
- Monitor Quality checks for specification compliance.
- Monitor process flow in process for efficiency and specification compliance.
- Correct problems during the day through corrective action or informing appropriate departments such as Maintenance, Quality, or Management.
- Assure an accurate production count.
- Assure all ingredients, packaging, and raw materials are properly put away according to GMPs and Company Procedures.
- Direct and train appropriate Plant staff in safe and effective cleaning procedures of process equipment and facilities. Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
- Inventory counts and adjudication
- Purchasing approvals and controls
Alternate Responsibilities
- The Plant Manager will fill in for either the Quality Manager or the Vice President on their daily duties if needed. The Plant Manager is designated as an alternate if one of the other managers is not present. The coverage will also include any food safety programs set forth by Mrs. Klein’s Pickle Co
