Portfolio Project Manager (Transmission)

Summary:
Responsible for the development of a manageable portfolio of capital projects for the transmission group to execute in alignment with the transmission strategy. Ensure capital transmission projects collectively represent a manageable budget, schedule, and utilization of resources through portfolio analysis and GRE governance processes.
Total Rewards:
A typical starting range for this position is $139,000 - $191,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Portfolio Management: Develop and ensure all transmission projects collectively represent a manageable portfolio, in accordance with GRE governance and transmission strategy while maintaining critical transmission infrastructure needs.
- Portfolio Project Management Communications: Monitor, report, and communicate status of the portfolio.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other GRE divisions, member-owners, and other utilities to support effective business processes and methods.
· Large Load Leadership: Work with cross departmental teams, to develop proposals, schedules, and estimates for potential large load customers.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, business administration or a related technical field
AND
· 10 years of experience focused on project controls and/or planning, managing multiple projects, and/or coordinating teams of professionals.
· 5 years of project management experience, including significant project planning, design, and construction of transmission projects.
· Professional engineer registration, project management certification, and/or master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of transmission planning, design engineering, project management, and construction in an electric utility environment.
- Knowledge of electric utility practice, codes and standards relating to transmission planning, design and construction.
- Knowledge of electrical system planning and operational requirements, as related to 5-year capital project plans.
- Skilled at utilizing Primavera for project and portfolio analysis, controls, and reporting.
- Skilled at effective communications at both technical and leadership levels. Skills must include strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Skill in developing and delivering effective presentations.
- Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address differences of opinion or facts and the use of the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
- Ability to understand information and ideas as presented and ability to interface and negotiate with several levels of personnel and across multiple organization lines.
- Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility quickly with business partners.
- Ability to effectively plan, direct and coordinate the activities of cross-functional teams.
- Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy.
- Ability to make effective decisions and implement those decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to integrate the business philosophies of GRE into the transmission load serving portfolio.
- Ability to utilize strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze and formulate technical and business options.
