Job Summary
We are looking for a student or an early educator who has some experience working with children ages 3-5 years old. Oakdale is an arts-rich, philosophically emergent school where children learn through play-based, hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences. It is vital that our new teacher is someone who is excited to help create fun, engaging and creative activities based on the interests of the children in their class. There is also a focus on the social/emotional development of the children, making sure they learn how to communicate their needs and wants as well as how to manage big emotions, work through conflict and solve problems on their own. An Oakdale teacher is someone who works well in a small school setting where we all support one another. Communication skills are key. Staff meetings, workshops, parent conferences and school events are also part of the job.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate play-based experiences that are developmentally appropriate with an emphasis in outdoor play and learning.

- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a collaborative learning atmosphere.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom and yard that promotes effective learning.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of childhood development.
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a preschool setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
- Experience in lesson planning and implementing effective teaching strategies that are based in playful and creative, outside-the-box thinking is a must.
We are a very small, private, play-based preschool that has been operating since the 1970s. Pay rate is based on experience and education, with the base rate starting at $21 per hour.
