POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the EHS/HS Education Director, has responsibility for the daily oversight of the preschool classroom in compliance with Head Start Performance standards, EEC Licensing regulations and standards established to assure a high-quality early childhood education program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for students.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate the preschool classroom curriculum for head start/ early head start program.
- Engage in playful activities that encourage development in the classroom.
- Teach children about their bodies, emotions, and relationships by modeling and interacting with them.
- Supervise children during outdoor playtime.
- Answer parents' questions about their children's progress.
- Ensure all documentation is forwarded to EHS/HS Education Director and/or human resources.
- Monitor, evaluate and provide training of classroom volunteers.
- Attend case management meetings, consultations, and staff meetings as necessary.
- Observe children and provide suggestions for behavior management and education programming to meet the individual needs of all children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: RATES OF PAY ARE DETERMINED BY EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's degree in early childhood development, Preschool certification. Meet Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) requirements.
- At least 2 years' experience in one of the following areas: early childhood education, child health, mental health, or fields of disabilities services
- At least one-year experience as a preschool or infant/toddler teacher. Also accepting applications for newly certified teachers.
- Prefer experience with Head Start.
- Experience with Developmentally Appropriate Practice, cultural diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience working in Bilingual settings (Spanish/English) preferred
