POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Director plays a key strategic and leadership role in advancing the mission and visibility of Rocky Mountain Communities. This individual is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all marketing, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal, to elevate awareness, foster community engagement, and support philanthropic growth.

This role requires a visionary and hands-on professional with experience in digital marketing, brand development, media relations, event promotion, and team management. The ideal candidate is values-aligned, adaptable, and passionate about using storytelling and strategic communications to drive positive change.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of marketing, communications, and advocacy strategies that advance the mission and priorities of RMC.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the marketing function, including budgeting, planning, and policy development.
  • Supervise and support marketing staff, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversee all print and digital collateral, including brochures, newsletters, the annual report, and campaign materials, ensuring consistency with RMC branding and messaging.
  • Manage and maintain the agency website, including content updates, performance monitoring, and user engagement strategies.
  • Develop and manage the organization’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, audience growth, and analytics.
  • Draft press releases, talking points, and op-eds in coordination with the CEO and other leadership team members.
  • Coordinate media outreach and maintain positive relationships with local and regional media outlets.
  • Oversee planning and promotion of agency events and community engagement initiatives.
  • Track, analyze, and report on marketing and communication performance metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize impact.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support fundraising campaigns, resident services, and advocacy efforts.
  • Maintain the agency’s marketing database and digital asset library.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of RMC’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (preferred).
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with proven success in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and staff management skills, with experience supervising hybrid or remote teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and content development.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, website CMS (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools, and social media strategy.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain media relationships and handle media outreach.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate campaign performance and engagement metrics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive communication.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strategic focus and attention to detail.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet agency driving eligibility standards.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for events and campaigns.
