Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy.
We are rapidly designing and building a pulsed magnetic fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems.
Our plans are ambitious. We have raised over $900M so far from incredible investors, resourcing us to deliver on these plans. We are bringing together the best scientists, engineers, and operators from the fusion community, hard tech industry, and other sectors. About the Role
Job Overview:
As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing purchasing operations for Pacific Fusion. You will work to build and optimize processes and enable the engineers and scientists across the organization as they bring our demonstration system online.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the purchasing process within our Procure to Pay tool, Coupa
Assist engineers and scientists to get new Suppliers onboarded
Review Purchase Orders to ensure completeness considering downstream data and process implications for goods receipts, invoicing, reporting and inventory management
Work closely with the Supply Chain, Legal and Finance teams to tackle pain points
Drive process maturity and efficiency across purchasing processes
Develop purchasing metrics and weekly reporting for leadership visibility
Develop training materials, provide training and guide users to effectively utilize the tools and processes in place
Perform ad hoc analysis as requested to support various leadership initiatives
Qualifications:
At least four years of progressive purchasing operations experience
Experience working with Coupa
Experience owning the end to end purchasing process for a hardware company
Experience creating new operational processes and ensuring continued improvement of those processes over time
Experience compiling reporting into cohesive and comprehensive executive summaries for consumption by various levels of leadership
Preferred but not required:
Experience working in a startup
Experience working in industries such as: fusion, energy, aerospace, automotive or manufacturing
Experience working closely with PhD scientists and R&D technology organizations
