Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and quality control duties at shop or remote locations. This includes weld inspections, auditing, maintaining quality procedures, processes, and training. The person in this position is responsible for communicating with the engineers, project managers, welders, and clients and must be capable of collaborating with the project team and construction personnel, including external contractors.
- Assure compliance with Industry Standards/Codes as needed (ASME B31.3, Section V and ASME Section IX)
- Must have familiarity with inspection and testing methods and procedures for Radiographic, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultrasonic examinations
- Performs quality control inspections, checks, and tests throughout the fabrication process, including Non-destructive Examinations (NDE), Pressure Testing, Coating Inspections, etc.
- Reviews all NDE reports for thoroughness and adhearance to project requirements
- Coordinate Third-Party NDT inspection and maintain weld maps and weld map data sheets for all shop work and field work
- Perform periodic visits to vendor or subcontractor facilities and construction sites to audit QA/QC procedures, records, and progress. Collarborate regularly with Construction Supervisors and contractors
- Assists in the preparation, review and execution of pressure test packages
- Maintain and upkeep internal weld procedure specifications, qualification records, welder performance qualifications and continuity logs
- Review subcontractor welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification records, welder performance qualifications, and welder continuity logs
- Review third party contractor QAQC records, reports, procedures, qualifications, etc.
- Review QA/QC documentation with client and third party auditors as required
- Maintain and update calibrated tools and equipment and associated calibraiton records
- Monitor the control and issue of welding electrodes in the shop
- Maintain and update internal QA/QC procedures and standards
- Assist receiving department to ensure delivered materials are in accordance with project or company specifications and requirements
- Read and interpret drawings
- Ability to create and maintain an established filing system
- Follows all company rules and safety policies
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Contributes to a strong teamwork environment
Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors and co-workers
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector or willingness to obtain, a plus
- Knowledge of welding requirements for ASME B31.3 and B31.8 a plus
- Knowledge of ASME welding and NDE codes (Section V and section IX) a plus
- Experience in the LNG, natural gas, petrochemical, oil, or power system industry
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five years related experience in the piping industry and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
