About Us:

Sonoma Specialty Hospital, as the county’s only Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, is dedicated to caring for patients that require an extended acute care stay due to severe illness or catastrophic injury. We accept patients from the ICU, Step-Down and Telemetry units of partner hospitals and continue their care for as long as 45 days. This care focuses on the challenges of getting patients off of ventilator support, healing severe wounds, aiding their recovery following surgical procedures, and providing rehabilitation to speed their return to daily life. Our Hospital provides ICU, Surgical, and Step-Down care with dialysis, multi-specialty therapies and ongoing planning for the patient’s transition back home or into a lower level of care. Job Summary:

The Quality Assistant is responsible for the administrative tasks within the Quality Department with direction support from the Direct of Quality/IP. The Quality Assistant will assist with the document control process, organizing Quality projects, and managing the filing systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Support department with document control
  • Manage the department’s filing and organizational needs
  • Assist with preparing for committee and council meetings
  • Support the Quality Team in researching educational materials on quality assurance and quality improvement results.
  • Support the department with Survey Readiness and participate in survey when needed.
  • Attend all relevant committee and departmental meetings.
  • Serve as a positive, proactive voice for SSH’s Quality Team.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested with a professional and positive attitude, and team spirit.


Education, Training, Licenses, and Experience:

  • GED Required
  • Medical Assistant License required.
  • Minimum of one year of hospital/healthcare experience preferred.

  • Knowledgeable about program evaluation, quality assurance, and/or quality improvement processes, theories, and/or models.
  • Knowledgeable about data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • A strong team player who is also a self-starter with a desire to take on new challenges.
  • Have strong computer literacy; proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel and web/data management products


Physical Requirements:

  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing with the use of a step stool and twisting. Lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time. Come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
