AdCare Rhode Island is a 59-bed inpatient alcohol and drug treatment center with a mission of providing transformational recovery experiences to individuals struggling with substance dependence.
The state-of-the-art facility is nestled on 22 acres of peaceful New England woodland in historic North Kingstown. The campus is conveniently located just minutes away from both the airport and downtown Providence. AdCare RI is also located close to pristine beaches and recreational areas. The newly renovated facility is outfitted with semi-private rooms with baths, fitness center, basketball court, and many other amenities.
Job Summary
The Recovery Support Counselor (RSC) assists patients by appropriately guiding them through difficulties or crises, facilitating interactive educational and support groups, and supporting patients by helping them to process their progress or become aware of any obstacles to their recovery. The Recovery Support Counselor ensures that their support is consistently delivered in accordance with AdCare’s clinical design specific to the program and is delivered in a manner that can demonstrate sound outcomes reducing relapse from alcohol and other drugs. This position fosters an atmosphere of customer service and excellence in service delivery. The Recovery Support Counselor provides personalized and tailored support to address the individual needs of our patients by consistently adhering to the mission and values of AdCare and AAC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate psycho educational groups for clients using multi-model approaches and expressive art therapy.
- Performs individual counseling sessions for clients.
- Interact with patients to identify and assist with urgent needs.
- Intervene with patients planning to leave AMA.
- Assist in the completion of discharge plans.
- Responsible for the details of case management including phone calls for referrals.
- Provides crisis management de-escalation.
- Documents all treatments, notes and clinical reports into client records.
- Completes aftercare and discharge planning for clients.
- Assists with milieu management.
- Outreaches to family and collateral contacts.
- Actively pursues continuing education to maintain credentials and skills.
- Attends weekly supervision group sessions.
- Meets with the Program Director monthly for individual and group supervision in accordance with level of licensure and employment status.
- Conducts treatment team meetings on the unit.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors psychology or related field preferred, minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months to 1 year or more experience working in substance use preferred.
- Experience in the mental health field or residential/inpatient treatment is desired.
- PADC or CPRS preferred, willingness to obtain.
- Experience in crisis management/de-escalation.
- Understanding of disease of addiction.
- Ability to work on interdisciplinary treatment team and communicate effectively.
- Working Knowledge of Google Products.
