The Radiation Oncology Nurse works with the Radiation Oncologist, nursing staff, interdisciplinary therapy team, and other healthcare personnel to provide collaborative and outcome-directed patient care. Assumes responsibility and accountability in patient care throughout consultation, treatment course and follow-up periods to ensure quality patient care and appropriate flow throughout the department. Gathers applicable documentation and background information necessary to the physician prior to patient appointment. Coordinates care across the organization through communication and collaboration with other departments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient education on radiation therapy and potential side effects
- Support communication between front desk staff, nursing staff, physicians, and radiation therapists
- Communicate and coordinate patient care with medical oncology and other referring providers
- Utilize EMR to efficiently document assessments, clinical findings, plans of treatment, and patient progress
- Support patient self-management of disease
- Develop trusting relationships with patients and use assessment skills to determine patient needs
- Follows established Nursing Standards of Care and nursing policy and procedure
Requirements:
MO Registered Nurse License in good standing
BLS within 30 days of hire
ACLS within six months of hire
Starting Range: $29.79 - $37.24
