Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Bus Aide to support students during their transportation to and from school. The Bus Aide plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children while they travel. This position requires effective communication skills, patience, and the ability to manage various behaviors in a diverse student population.
Duties
- Provide support to students with special needs or behavioral challenges.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and school staff regarding any issues or concerns that arise during transport.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes respect and cooperation among students.
- Responsible to acquire all pertinent route information.
- Be on time for all assigned routes.
- Monitor students’ behavior. Be alert to emotional and physical conditions that may affect the safety and/or welfare of students.
- Handle on-board passenger management at all times, especially when vehicle/bus is in motion.
- Assist students for safety reasons (loading and unloading procedures).
- Communicate and work with students, parents, company staff and school personnel (teachers, transportation supervisors and administrators).
- Dress appropriately.
- Perform other job related duties as necessary.
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom or childcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with special education practices is a plus.
- Strong conflict management skills and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Experience in behavior management strategies is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff effectively.

Pay: From $16.25 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
