    The District 214 Specialized Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate School Psychologist or School Social Worker (1.0 FTE) to join our dynamic team.     Position Summary:


    The School Psychologist or School Social Worker will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. This position involves conducting comprehensive evaluations, providing counseling and crisis intervention, developing and implementing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Special Education Support:

    • Assist in completing the Special Education domain and eligibility process.
    • Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
    • Write IEP goals and provide counseling minutes for students.
    • Function as a member of a Problem Solving Team (PST) with counselors, specialists, administration, and special education staff.

    Intervention and Counseling:

    • Provide individual and group counseling support across a diverse student population.
    • Assist teams in developing behavior intervention plans for General Education and Special Education students.
    • Provide intervention assistance to students, families, and staff.
    • Provide classroom-based interventions/presentations in collaboration with teachers.
    • Serve on the Crisis Team to support and intervene for the school and community.
    • Serve as program Homeless Liaison.

    Collaboration and Consultation:

    • Provide consultation services to the Student Services team, teachers, and administration.
    • Actively seek out articulation opportunities with sender school staff.


    Specific Responsibilities by Role:

    School Psychologist:

    • Conduct diagnostic psychological testing and write social-developmental histories.
    • Create intervention plans with Division Head – Student Success, Safety & Wellness.
    • Implement evidenced based group counseling curriculum.

    School Social Worker:

    • Complete social histories as part of the case study evaluation process.
    • Complete adaptive behavior scales.
    • Complete simple and complex behavior plans.
    • Be willing to work with outside agencies to present pro-active programming for student needs.
    • Actively participate in the Related Services Professional Learning Team and the District Related Services Leadership Team.
    • Participate in parent support programs.
    • Network with outside agencies and work with students and families to access these services.

    Qualifications:

    For School Psychologist:

    • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) as a school psychologist.
    • Master's, Educational Specialist or Doctorate degree with a major in School Psychology.
    • Strong background in testing and measurement.

    For School Social Worker:

    • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker Endorsement.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
    • Experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with parents and members of our community.
    • Experience working with special education students, especially those with an ED label.
