Job Summary
The Senior Product Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development and successful launch of new products by overseeing and executing key manufacturing-related initiatives—both internally and in partnership with external manufacturing partners. This includes leading efforts in Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Testability (DFT), while continuously improving manufacturing processes to meet time-to-market, product quality, and reliability targets.
This role requires deep collaboration with cross-functional teams including Platform Engineering, Test, Quality, and Supply Chain Management, starting from the earliest phases of product concept through to end-of-life. The ultimate objective is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable products aligned with the company’s long-term growth and innovation goals.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the engineering design team to ensure product development meets manufacturing requirements — targeting zero design defects in production.
Manage product quality across the entire lifecycle: from NPI through sustaining production, covering PCBA subassemblies, system integration, and field deployment.
Develop and manage the full Bill of Materials (BOM) structure within PLM systems: including BOM release, ECOs, MCOs, PCNs, and EOL processes.
Participate in design specification, development, and testing of hardware; provide critical manufacturing input during schematic, placement, and layout reviews.
Define, document, and improve manufacturing processes and best practices.
Lead DFx (Design for Excellence) efforts — including cost, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
Continuously enhance manufacturing efficiency, consistency, and cost-effectiveness while driving improvements to customer satisfaction.
Lead technical teams in evaluating and adopting new manufacturing technologies and processes.
Support early prototype testing, troubleshoot/debug system issues, identify root causes, and drive resolutions with engineering or manufacturing partners.
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
10+ years of experience in product engineering, process engineering, or manufacturing engineering within complex hardware systems environments.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience bringing products from prototype to high-volume production.
Expertise in manufacturing systems and methods, including assembly, system-level test processes, and failure analysis.
Ownership and hands-on experience with PLM systems: BOM, ECO, MCO, and EOL management.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to resolve ambiguity and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
A track record of improving yield, reducing cycle time, and lowering costs through process optimization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing ODMs or contract manufacturers, especially in Asia, with hands-on vendor engagement.
Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control), DOE (Design of Experiments), and tools such as JMP, Minitab, or Python for data analysis.
Experience driving DFM/DFT/DFY improvements in close collaboration with silicon and system design teams.
Proven leadership in NPI programs and transitions from design into mass production.
Ability to build structure and drive clarity in dynamic, early-stage engineering environments.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills rooted in humility, clarity, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
