Overview:
We manage a diverse fleet of diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electric concrete cutting equipment, along with their transport vehicles, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We’re seeking a self-motivated individual to oversee our shop with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be comfortable making decisions, sourcing supplies, and leading a team. As the backbone of our operations, the shop's efficiency directly impacts field success. This role requires strong accountability, coordination with management, and ensuring tools and materials are available per job schedules.
Types of Equipment:
- Core drilling machines (Hilti, Husqvarna)
- Slab saws (Husqvarna, Diamond Products)
- Various styles and types of hand-held cutting tools, electric (AC & DC)/hydraulic/gas powered
- Hydraulic power units (diesel/gas/electric)
- Small and large electric generators (diesel/gas, 110-240V, 480V-3 Phase)
- Light and Medium duty trucks, dry box and open body (diesel/gas)
- Small excavators and skid steer loaders
Environment / Duties and Responsibilities:
- Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Adapt to changing workflows and job requirements
- Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
- Travel to local and out-of-town jobsites for repairs
- Coordinate shop workflow with Division and Operations Managers based on job schedules
- Communicate regularly with Corporate Fleet & Shop Management on large project progress
- Create and complete shop work orders using company software
- Manage subordinate employees, including task delegation, timekeeping, and performance
- Complete and submit repair tracking and accounting paperwork
- Maintain equipment to company standards of readiness
- Ensure shop cleanliness, facility condition, and inventory management
- Accurately track and report weekly work hours
Skill Requirements:
- Diagnose and repair small/large diesel and gas engines
- Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, including diagnosis, repair, and schematic interpretation
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, with ability to read diagrams and perform repairs
- Basic metal fabrication skills (welding, cutting, torching)
- Provide basic troubleshooting and repair guidance over the phone with field employees
- Manage personnel with team-building, effective communication, and ongoing training
- Proficient with email, Microsoft M365, vendor portals, and data tracking systems
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty/industrial mechanic experience (or equivalent)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Pass E-Verify, background check, drug test, and DOT medical exam
- Must have own tools
- Concrete cutting experience preferred but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 45 per week
Schedule:
- 8-10 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Nights and Weekends as needed
