Job Title: Social Emotional Learning Coach

Position Type: Part Time, Contractual
This is a contract position from September, 2025 - June, 2026 with the possibility of renewal each year through the end of the grant, pending a positive performance review and continued funding. In the case where vacancies occur, the contract begins from the date of hire.
POSTION
The Social Emotional Learning Coach is a student-centered position. This position reports to the Site Program Manager. This position is a results-based assignment with an emphasis on relationship building and management to ensure students’ emotional success across the program.
JOB SUMMARY
Redhouse Arts Center (Redhouse) is a professional, not-for-profit theater serving the community by providing leading and inclusive experiences through its theater and educational programs.
The Social Emotional Learning Coach is a collaborative, action and results-oriented, independent thinker who values social emotional learning initiatives for students, inclusive programming, and D.E.I.A (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access) initiatives.
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coach will work to support the process by which children develop fundamental emotional and social competencies and experiences. The SEL Coach will work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by helping students manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Additionally, the SEL Coach will center their work on the five core competencies: Self-Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationships Skills, and Responsible Decision making. The SEL Coach will be responsible for the direct support to school staff on SEL programming including standards, staff development, curriculum, and assessment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Oversee implementation of curriculum for in-class learning through the arts
- Work alongside the Education Department in order to ensure effective and efficient implementation of program curriculum and production schedule(s)
- Remain current on best practices in social and emotional learning, learning differences
- Consult with stakeholders and staff concerning social emotional learning needs of students
- Provide guidance on designing social emotional learning integration into the school.
- Provide professional development to support the social emotional learning curriculum and instruction by using best practices
- Attend meetings, training workshops and educational conferences to maintain and improve professional competence
- Work collaboratively with the instructional team, using the team’s new ideas and innovations, in order to improve student learning and deliver program project indicators
- Communicate with students and families and keep them informed of their progress
- Other mission based duties, as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 Years of educational experience as a teacher or instructional coach, required.
- Experience in the area of Social Emotional Learning and / or Restorative Practices.
- Experience in relationship development and management with the ability to make decisions and communicate plans to stakeholders using data and anecdotal information
- Experience working with students of all abilities
- Strong writing, editing, and grammar skills
- Valid NYS license and/or reliable means of transportation
- Exemplifies active problem solving skills, flexibility, and creativity and demonstrates positive, professional, and effective communication with all stakeholders
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise and diplomacy
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and under pressure with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow-through
- Flexibility in dealing with changes when incorporating program priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent work ethic
- Possesses skills to utilize the following software programs: Microsoft Office Suite and Pages; Internet Explorer/Safari; Google Calendar; cloud based storage systems, including Dropbox and Google Docs
