Position Overview
The Office of Prince George’s County Council Chair Edward Burroughs III is seeking a highly dependable and detail-oriented Personal Assistant & Constituent Services Representative. This individual will serve in a dual capacity—personally staffing the Chair at all external engagements and supporting constituent services operations within the office.
This role requires a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is exceptionally organized, maintains a high level of discretion, and is deeply committed to public service. A personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Assistant Duties
- Drive the Chair to all external appointments, including:
- Community events
- Meetings with stakeholders
- Airport drop-offs and pick-ups
- Other travel as needed
- Ensure the Chair is staffed at every event and external meeting in collaboration with the Chief of Staff and Director of Constituent Services; however, primary responsibility for coverage lies with this role.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations to review the Chair’s calendar at least two weeks in advance to ensure proper event staffing and logistical support.
- Provide on-site staffing support at all public and private events.
- Manage personal errands as requested, including:
- Picking up meals for the Chair
- Handling dry cleaning and administrative errands
Constituent Services Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Constituent Services in managing the constituent casework log, ensuring all concerns are logged, tracked, and responded to in a timely manner.
- Respond to constituent inquiries—via email, phone, and mail—within 72 business hours when not actively staffing the Chair.
- Attend select meetings with the Chair and take notes; maintain the follow-up log for all meetings and events.
- Collaborate with the Director of Constituent Services to ensure every event includes a follow-up plan and execution.
- Support the supervision of front-office interns to ensure:
- Phone lines are answered professionally
- Incoming mail is picked up, sorted, and distributed
- Emails and voicemails are checked and documented
- The office remains responsive and welcoming to the public
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in executive support, community engagement, or constituent services
- Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle
- Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and discretion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a high-profile office
- Familiarity with Prince George’s County communities and government structure is a plus
