Job Overview & Responsibilities:

The Certerra Special Inspector provides on-site construction inspection and testing per the project plans and specifications.

  • Perform daily observations of construction/ project sites in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania and ensure compliance with building standards and project specifications.
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed written reports detailing findings, observations, and test results.
  • Soils technician duties include Geotechnical construction observation and nuclear density testing.
  • Hot-Mixed Asphalt technician duties include asphalt pavement construction observation and nuclear density testing and asphalt plant laboratory testing.
  • Concrete technician duties include testing slump, air, unit weight, temperature and fabrication of test cylinders and beams in accordance with ASTM standards.
  • Implements and follows our Corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ construction experience
  • Practical knowledge of the International Code Council (ICC) Chapter 17 Special Inspections and Tests
  • Combination of certifications in ICC’s and/or AWS-CWI and/or ASNT (UT-MT-PT)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (OSHA), 10-Hour Certification.
  • A current and valid driver's license that will allow insurance through the company insurance provider.

  • ICC Structural Masonry
  • ICC Spray Applied Fireproofing
  • ICC Structural Welding
  • ICC Structural Steel & Bolting
  • ICC Prestressed Concrete
  • AWS/CWI
  • WABO Certifications
  • ASNT Level II (UT-MT-PT)
  • Nuclear density gauge
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Grade 1 Certification
  • NAQTC Certification (sampling &density, aggregates, asphalt)
  • Other State specific certs for special inspections

Essential Skills:

  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or within Team environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate on a daily basis with the QC Project Manager
  • Attend internal pre-construction kickoff meetings with Project Engineer, and QC Project Manager.
  • Perform materials testing/inspection and provide proper documentation on a daily basis.
