Job Overview:
The high school mathematics teacher is responsible for teaching math courses, which may include Algebra 1, Algebra 2, pre-calculus, financial algebra, calculus and AP statistics. This teacher is collaborative, inspiring, innovative and incorporates activity-based experiences into the math courses. Teachers work with other core content teachers to create interdisciplinary
projects across the curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for working at SPIRE Academy, an affiliate of Grand River Academy. SPIRE serves students who have a passion for athletics and the teachers’ responsibilities will only be at SPIRE Academy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
5 sections of Teaching plus Student Seminar Communicates and collaborates with other teachers to design interdisciplinary projects. Communicates and collaborates with Coaches and Residential Life Faculty in order to support the learning of students in their classes. Professionally communicates with parents, Faculty and staff to meet student needs and differentiate curriculum. Uses a variety of data to evaluate the ability of students and communicates the learning
and growth to parents, faculty and athletic coaches. Addressing academic, emotional, and social needs as a member of the academic team. Completes periodic progress reports to gauge student growth. Participates in the seminar curriculum.
Qualifications
Preference to those with Masters of Education in Mathematics, or related degree.
Preference to those with 3 plus years of teaching experience.
Preference to those with 3 plus years of teaching experience.
Preference to candidates who understand working with athletes and international
students.
Preference for candidates with strong experience working with a diverse population of needs.
In addition to teaching, the other responsibilities are:
To serve as a positive role model for the students, faculty, staff and other members of the school’s community.
To participate in department meetings and whole faculty meetings.
To adhere to all policies and procedures as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
To obtain the necessary permit to drive students in school owned vehicles.
To perform other duties as assigned by the head of school.
To support the school and its leadership.
