Job Summary:
A Stone Setter is responsible for setting and securing gemstones or other decorative materials into various jewelry pieces that are prepared for assembly. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a good understanding of different stone setting techniques.
NOTE: Stone setting knowledge not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
Essential Job Functions:
- Inspect stone and ring assembly for proper preparation and fit.
- Place stones in settings using tweezers or other precision tools, and secure them by pressing prongs, applying cement, or using other methods.
- Use hand tools to tighten bezels or prongs to stone and close small gaps.
- Choose appropriate tools and methods for setting each stone, such as prong, bezel, or pave settings.
- Make minor adjustments to setting when necessary.
- Determine the need and use of appropriate adhesive where necessary.
- Emery bezel or prong with hand tools when necessary to remove marks from setting operation.
- Ensure that all stones are securely set and meet quality standards.
- Keep the work area and tools clean and well-maintained.

- Knowledge of tools involved in the successful operation of this function.
- Ability to work with small, delicate items with precision.
- Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands for handling tiny stones and tools.
- Experience with various stone setting tools and techniques.
- Ability to perform tasks that may require sitting or standing for long periods.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in similar setting preferred.
