Sea Island Land Development, a leading sitework and land development company based in Ravenel, SC, is seeking a skilled Surveyor Crew Chief to oversee field survey operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in sitework, construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a field survey crew in conducting topographic, boundary, as-built, and construction layout surveys.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, including GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
- Interpret civil site plans, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate field layout.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to support land development and construction projects.
- Ensure survey data accuracy and completeness, preparing field notes and reports as required.
- Manage crew scheduling, assignments, and workflow to meet project deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working on-site.
- Train and mentor survey crew members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years as a Crew Chief.
- Proficiency with modern survey instruments, including GPS and robotic total stations.
- Strong understanding of construction plans, grading, and sitework processes.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other surveying software is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate rugged terrain.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
