This position is a member of our Critical Infrastructure Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Plans for response and recovery to large scale “All Hazards” disasters, complex emergency response incidents, or complex environmental assessments. Coordinates with the TCEQ Critical Infrastructure Division Director, Homeland Security Coordinator, Emergency Management Coordinator, Area Directors, and Regional Directors to develop and maintain agency preparedness training for state level disaster response.
- Acts as a liaison between regional staff, TCEQ management, and state and federal emergency management personnel to provide coordination and technical assistance regarding emergency management-related procedures to be implemented statewide; prepares standard operating procedures for equipment and business processes as needed.
- Trains and mentors’ regional staff statewide regarding tactics and procedures to respond to large scale safely and effectively "All Hazard" disasters and emergency response incidents.
- Oversees, maintains, and operates numerous complex systems associated with the TCEQ mobile command post and other associated equipment.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience performing activities for Emergency Response, Hazardous Materials, or Emergency Management Operations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in management, planning, public administration, natural or physical science, environmental studies, or a related field, plus six years of full-time experience in environmental activities or emergency management. One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities or emergency management work may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
OR
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus five years of the required experience.
OR
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus four years of the required experience.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Emergency Management Program Coordinator IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Emergency Management Program Coordinator IV series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Critical Infrastructure Division.
