Job Title: Teller
Location: Ashland, WI, possible shift rotation to other Northern State Bank branches
Reports To: Head Teller/Security Officer & Auto Bank Supervisor
FLSA Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Job Summary:
Tellers are responsible for conducting and processing various types of customer bank transactions. This includes providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service to customers while adhering to bank teller policy and procedure guidelines. This also requires bank tellers to maintain a balanced cash drawer and become skilled in the ability to build customer relationships to identify products and services to meet the customer s banking needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Accurately balance cash at work station
- Balance cash in window to start and finish daily work and at balancing time
- Complete deposit and withdrawal transactions for customers
- Verify all cash that customers bring to window
- Count customers’ loose coin in coin counter. Roll bags of coin using coin wrapper machine.
- Receive and disburse Canadian money; accurately figuring out discount
- Cash customers’ checks
- Accept customers’ loan payments and payoffs; accurately calculate payoffs as requested
- Balance vault
- Take check orders/process check orders, use printer/stitcher/cutter. Order check supplies, etc. Monthly reports.
- Operate teller imager/scanner
- Balance the branches/end of day balancing
- Balance out money orders/cashier’s checks, loan checks, etc.
- Balance ATM’s
Performance Expectations: Maintain an accurate cash drawer with limited variations. Respond to customers’ inquiries in a timely and friendly manner. Completely follow through on all transactions and activities. Acknowledge and greet customers upon arrival to lobby or teller window.
Maintain accurate records for customers and the bank
- Verify all night drop bag contents and mail receipt to customers
- File maintenance on existing accounts, putting new accounts on system
- Learn/understand NSB products available—savings accounts, checking accounts, CD’s (rates), min balance, fees, etc.
- Place holds on checks
Performance Expectations: Accurately record transactions. File information in appropriate location. Complete bank documents accurately for task. Follow through on all transactions and communications.
Performs other duties as assigned which may include but are not limited to:
- Filing and collating
- Answering the phones
- Shredding confidential items
- Light housekeeping/maintenance
- Provide occasional teller staffing coverage at other branches, when needed

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience working as a teller, retail sales, or customer service position preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Note: Never/Seldom = less than 15% of work time
Occasional = 15% - 49% of work time
Frequent = 50% - 74% of work time
Continuous = 75% - 100% of work time
- Continuous periods of walking & standing
- Frequent periods of working on a confined space
- Seldom movements of lifting, climbing, pushing/pulling of objects, and sitting Teller
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
