Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial telephone assessment of patient symptoms and concerns to determine urgency of care needed
- Use established Gastro MD protocols to prioritize and route patient calls to appropriate clinic resources
- Document patient concerns, symptoms, and relevant medical history in the electronic health record
- Coordinate same-day appointments for urgent gastrointestinal issues
- Communicate effectively with Gastro MD physicians and nurse practitioners regarding patient needs
- Provide basic education to patients about common GI conditions and preparation instructions
- Follow up with patients as directed by providers
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal conditions, symptoms, and medical terminology
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- Excellent telephone communication skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to make sound judgments regarding patient care priorities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with Gastro MD clinical and administrative staff
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Occasional weekend rotation may be required
