We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals while providing excellent customer service to pet owners.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, including animal catheterization and medication administration.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively to ensure their comfort and safety during treatment.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks such as collecting samples, conducting tests, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and preparing examination rooms.
- Provide front desk support by scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and assisting clients with inquiries.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and medication administration as directed by the veterinarian.
- Assist with equine care when necessary, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and handling techniques.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology, handling techniques, and restraint methods.
- Ability to perform basic laboratory tasks and assist with medical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a strong commitment to their welfare.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed by the clinic.
