Veterinary Technician
Overview of Job Duties
We are looking for a special person with a passion for animals, that is reliable and dependable and believes in our mission of saving the homeless animals in our community. You must be very comfortable handling dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in providing spay/neuter surgery, soft tissue surgery and dentals
- Provide preventative and basic medical care to dogs and cats as instructed by our veterinarian
- Intubate animals, place intravenous catheters, perform venipuncture and administer fluids as needed.
- Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in preoperative, operative, and postoperative phases.
- Maintain medical supplies inventory, including emergency drugs and make sure they are in-date.
- Ensure all equipment is working properly such as fluid pump, anesthetic machines, autoclave, pulse oximeter and other monitoring equipment.
- Assist in maintaining all controlled substance drug logs and patient records. Must be familiar with federal and state controlled substance laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Skills
- Experience required as a vet tech
- Must have compassion for all animals
- Be an energetic person with a great work ethic and ambition
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs
- Have the ability to be on your feet for 6+ hours at a time
- Foster a friendly, team spirit with a positive/respectful attitude
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
