Organizational Overview
Job Summary
The Vice President of Advancement serves as a key member of NDC’s leadership team and is responsible for driving the organization’s overall fundraising success. This role leads efforts to diversify and grow revenue through a comprehensive advancement program, including major gifts, corporate and foundation support, annual and planned giving, fundraising events, and capital campaigns. The Vice President of Advancement builds and strengthens donor relationships, expands the individual giving program, and develops the advancement team to achieve ambitious fundraising goals. This position plays a critical role in ensuring NDC’s long-term financial sustainability and its ability to serve and empower minority and underserved entrepreneurs across communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Primary areas of focus
- Manage, coach, and develop the Advancement team to achieve fundraising goals.
- Secure individual major gifts.
- Cultivate and secure corporate and foundation grants.
- Oversee comprehensive and capital campaigns from planning through execution.
2. Additional responsibilities
- Grow and manage the annual fund, with a goal of increasing revenue through two annual campaigns.
- Expand planned giving opportunities and donor engagement in this area.
- Oversee fundraising events, working with an event planner and other resources to enhance reach and impact..
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Proven success in major gifts, corporate and foundation grants, and capital/comprehensive campaigns.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies that drive revenue growth.
- Commitment to advancing economic opportunities for minority and underserved entrepreneurs.
- Knowledge of CDFI funding preferred; grant writing experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; and equivalent combination of education and significant advancement leadership experience will be considered.
- CFRE (or comparable certification) preferred.
