Oxford BioTherapeutics (OBT) is a dynamic, growing, international biotechnology company based in Oxford, UK, and San Jose, CA. We are a clinical stage oncology company with a pipeline of immuno-oncology and antibody-drug conjugate-based therapies. OBT's IO discovery process provides unique insight into the cancer-immune cell synapse and has identified several novel IO candidates for cancer therapy. Discovery of novel tumor antigens and immune cell surface proteins at OBT is performed using the proprietary Oxford Genome Anatomy Project (OGAP®) database. OBT currently has one ADC in phase 1b clinical trials in collaboration with Menarini.


Purpose of the Role

To ensure the commercial success of external contracts through the timely and accurate forecasting of resource utilization against budget; proactively influence resource reallocation. Present reports to internal management.


Roles and Responsibilities:


This role will involve:

  • Input into the development of the collaboration budget (preparation of budgets, understanding implications internally on resource allocation) and able to produce and implement change of order budgets for on-going projects) together with the GFD, the Director of Alliance Management and SVP EI
  • Being the interface between the External Innovation science team, PMs and the contract
  • Management of collaboration budget throughout the agreement providing financial information for OBT internal systems, preparation of accrual reports, request for invoices
  • Proactive influencing on needed re-worked resource reallocation in line with most profitable contractual terms
  • Prepare rolling and annual budget forecasting on profitability of each external contract as requested by GFD.
  • Timesheet System Management (setup and maintenance of project-specific timesheets in OBT’s internal system, management of reconciliation of actual vs budget costs on a regular basis)

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Qualifications:


  • College or University degree, preferably in Finance/Economics
  • At least 3 years' experience in project budgeting and financial analysis
  • Track record of working with business units to deliver on contractual profitability
  • Proficiency in standard MS Office applications, advanced use of MS Excel
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication/negotiation skills
  • Willingness to communicate with, and influence, all involved departments and sponsors
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely information/reports
  • Ability to work under pressure and to perform multi-task activities
  • Team player, forging strong relationships to enable swift reaction to priorities

  • Scientific background
  • Use of R&D timesheet software (eg R&D Time)
  • Worked in a CRO in similar role
  • Ability to understand workflows required to deliver milestones
