Youth Development Assistant

Location: Lewiston, ME and Auburn, ME
Position Type: Part-time
Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:45p-6p and some Wednesdays 11:45-6.
Compensation: starting at $16.50 per hour

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Development Assistant to support the daily operations at both of our locations the Teen Center and our school age program. This role involves engaging with children in first through twelfth grade, facilitating activities, and creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment where youth can develop confidence, leadership skills, and healthy habits. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with our members and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities focused on leadership, career development, academic success, and healthy lifestyles.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment by enforcing Club policies and positive behavior expectations.
- Assist in organizing special events, guest speakers, and community service projects.
- Support teens in setting and achieving personal and academic goals.
- Collaborate with staff to create a welcoming and supportive space tailored to the needs of teens.
- Ensure our clubhouses are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and program reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, or community setting preferably with kids ages 5-18
- Ability to work in fast paced and dynamic work environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid Driver’s license with excellent record.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
