Qualifications/Expectations:
- Must demonstrate the biblical character traits and ministry skills laid out in 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4.
- Must have graduated from an accredited evangelical seminary
- Preferred to have previous youth ministry experience
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be flexible.
- Have awareness of the diverse Asian cross-cultural context
- Must have a passion and a heart for ministering and discipling youth (6-12 grade)
- Must have an understanding of youth (6-12 grade) culture and issues
JOB DESCRIPTION
1) Preaching and Teaching
- Provide biblical preaching and teaching in the Friday (Highland Park)
- Oversee and participate in preaching and teaching at the Sunday Youth program at Long Grove
- Organize and participate in teaching the Youth Sunday School curriculum at Highland Park and Long Grove
2) Leadership
- Work with the Part-time youth minister, and youth counselors and student leaders in developing a vision and achieving long and short-term goals for the youth groups at both locations
- Provide mentoring for youth student leaders (Student Leadership Team)
- Recruit, train, and support a lay leadership team
- Partner with the English pastor for integration of the youth in Sunday services at Highland Park
3) General Ministry Duties
- Provide the youth with opportunities for spiritual growth throughout the year, including the summer.
- Organize, attend, and lead weekly youth group meetings (Friday nights and Sunday school)
- Organize outreach activities or service projects in keeping with the goals of the youth ministry
- Be available for parent-teenager counseling as needed
- Encourage and support parental involvement
- Coordinate on an as-need basis with other church programs, especially Children’s Ministry, AWANA, and to a lesser extent College Ministry.
4) Church Administrative Duties
- Conduct effective and efficient meetings in the youth ministry
- Communicate clearly with other pastoral staff and board members
- Participate in weekly pastoral staff meetings, monthly Elder meetings, and occasional Deacon meetings
- Maintain accurate expense reports and collaborate with team members in budget forecasting
- Coordinate various church-wide events
5) Other duties as assigned *
Ministry Load: 40 hours per week
Accountability: The position is under the supervision of the lead pastor and reports to the TGC Board of Elders.
