About the Role
The Regional Fleet Manager is responsible for developing, managing and growing the fleet business for BYD and DENZA within their designated region.
The role is responsible for executing the national fleet strategy at a regional level, building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate customers, government organisations, Fleet Management Organisations (FMOs), leasing and salary packaging providers, dealer partners and other key fleet stakeholders.
Working closely with the National Fleet Manager and the relevant Regional Manager, the Regional Fleet Manager will identify and convert fleet opportunities, support dealer fleet execution, and ensure regional fleet activities contribute to overall sales, volume, revenue and market share objectives.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. Success in the role will require strong cross-functional collaboration with the Regional Manager, dealer network and internal stakeholders to identify opplortunities, drive execution and deliver regional fleet objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regional Fleet Business Development
- Develop and execute regional fleet activities in line with the national BYD and DENZA fleet strategy.
- Achieve agreed regional fleet sales, volume and revenue objectives.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across corporate, government, SME, novated lease and medium-to-large fleet customers.
- Build and maintain a strong regional fleet pipeline with clear opportunity management and conversion plans.
- Proactively generate new fleet opportunities through direct customer engagement, referrals, industry relationships and dealer collaboration.
- Represent BYD and DENZA professionally with fleet customers and industry stakeholders across the region.
- Support the growth of both BYD and DENZA within relevant fleet segments.
2. Fleet Customer & FMO Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate customers, government organisations, Fleet Management Organisations (FMOs), leasing companies, salary packaging providers and other fleet partners.
- Act as a key regional point of contact for fleet customers and prospects.
- Conduct regular customer meetings and business reviews to identify opportunities, understand business requirements and strengthen customer relationships.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer fleet requirements, including vehicle application, total cost of ownership, residual value, vehicle configuration and operational requirements.
- Coordinate product evaluations, demonstrations and fleet activities with customers, FMOs and fleet decision-makers.
- Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the fleet sales and vehicle delivery process.
3. Dealer & Regional Collaboration
- Work closely with the relevant Regional Manager to ensure fleet activity supports overall regional sales and business objectives.
- Develop strong working relationships with BYD and DENZA Dealer Partners across the region.
- Support Dealer Partners in identifying, developing and converting local fleet opportunities.
- Assist Dealer Partners with fleet sales processes, program requirements, pricing structures and customer engagement.
- Promote consistent fleet best practice throughout the regional Dealer Network.
- Ensure fleet opportunities are appropriately coordinated between BYD/DENZA, Dealer Partners and customers.
- Support Dealer Partners with the execution of national and regional fleet programs.
- Provide feedback to the National Fleet Manager and Regional Manager regarding Dealer fleet capability, opportunities and areas requiring additional support.
4. Tender, Pricing & Opportunity Management
- Manage and support regional Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Pricing (RFPs), tenders and fleet proposals.
- Prepare professional and commercially appropriate fleet proposals in conjunction with the National Fleet Manager.
- Manage pricing and discount requests within approved company policies, guidelines and approval requirements.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure tenders and proposals are accurate, commercially appropriate and submitted within required timeframes.
- Maintain visibility of major regional fleet opportunities and their progress through the sales pipeline.
- Ensure all fleet transactions comply with national fleet policies, incentive structures and approval requirements.
5. Fleet Operations & Vehicle Delivery
- Coordinate with Dealer Partners, logistics and internal teams to support the timely fulfilment and delivery of fleet orders.
- Monitor major regional fleet orders from order placement through to customer delivery.
- Assist with vehicle configuration, fit-out and customer-specific requirements where required.
- Identify potential supply, delivery or operational issues and escalate appropriately.
- Work with Aftersales and Dealer Partners to support ongoing fleet customer requirements.
- Support the coordination of vehicle evaluations, fleet events and customer product activities within the region.
6. Reporting, Analysis & Market Intelligence
- Maintain accurate fleet opportunity, pipeline and customer information within relevant CRM and reporting systems.
- Track regional fleet sales performance against agreed objectives and KPIs.
- Provide regular reporting to the National Fleet Manager on fleet pipeline, sales performance, key customer activity and market opportunities.
- Provide relevant fleet updates to the Regional Manager to support broader regional business planning.
- Monitor competitor fleet activities, pricing, products and commercial programs.
- Analyse regional fleet trends and customer feedback to identify potential business opportunities.
- Provide feedback on fleet customer requirements to support product planning, vehicle specification and future fleet strategy.
7. Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Logistics, Aftersales, Finance and Customer Care teams to support fleet business requirements.
- Work closely with the National Fleet Manager to ensure consistent execution of national fleet programs.
- Partner with Regional Managers to align fleet activities with regional retail and network objectives.
- Support marketing and fleet activation initiatives where required.
- Attend relevant fleet, industry, customer and Dealer events.
- Ensure BYD and DENZA brand standards are maintained across all customer and stakeholder interactions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Formal qualification in Business, Automotive, Commerce or a related discipline is desirable, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience within automotive fleet sales, business development, vehicle leasing, Fleet Management Organisations (FMOs), salary packaging, OEM or Dealer Group environments.
- Ideally 5+ years' experience across fleet, corporate, novated, government or medium-to-large business fleet channels.
- Strong understanding of the Australian fleet automotive landscape.
- Demonstrated success in developing fleet business and generating sales revenue.
- Strong existing relationships within the fleet industry, with the ability and motivation to develop new relationships.
- Experience managing tenders, Requests for Information, Requests for Pricing and customer proposals.
- Strong understanding of fleet procurement processes, residual values and total cost of ownership considerations.
- Experience working with automotive Dealer Networks is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the designated region and interstate when required.
