Mission

Overview

Keystone Solutions is seeking a Cloud Architect for a consultancy mission at a client site. The role involves developing and implementing cloud and hosting strategies while ensuring security, financial management, legal compliance, and sustainability in cloud technology deployment.

Key

Responsibilities

• Analyze the current situation and outline the target architecture and migration paths.
• Translate legislation, police requirements, and data classification into governance frameworks.
• Evaluate hosting options for different data types, including SaaS, in collaboration with the Chief Data Officer.
• Monitor costs according to FinOps principles and track KPIs.
• Prepare and support risk acceptance by decision-making bodies.
• Consult with IT on security implementations and translate IT needs into architecture.
• Proactively engage partners and stakeholders, connecting with other architects.

Deliverables:

• A multi-year cloud and hosting roadmap and a cloud operating model.
• Architecture principles, reference architectures, and governance frameworks at both high and detailed levels.
• A framework for hosting and data placement (on-premise, private cloud, IaaS/PaaS, SaaS).
• Minimum requirements for logging, auditability, encryption, key management, and data residency.
• A KPI set and reporting on costs, security, availability, and migration.
• Non-technical advisory notes for decision-making bodies.

Knowledge Domains:

• Cloud and hosting architecture: Azure (IaaS/PaaS, landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, resource governance), hybrid infrastructure (ExpressRoute/VPN, WAN), networking, and on-premise data centers.
• SaaS and service models: shared responsibility model per service model, data residency, access rights, contractual aspects, and exit strategies (e.g., Microsoft 365).
• Security and operational basics: Zero Trust, security by design, IAM (Entra ID, RBAC, PIM), encryption and key management, logging and auditability; FinOps; IaC and automation, monitoring, containers, BC/DR.
• Context: data sovereignty, vendor dependency and exit strategy, data classification, legislation, and police requirements; GRC, NIS 2, and GDPR overview.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Clear verbal and written communication, from strategic to technical levels.
• Collaborative approach: builds trust with operational teams and partners, reconciling infrastructure, security, and operational interests.
• Fluency in Dutch or French is required; bilingualism is a strong asset; English is required.

Level and Experience:

• Senior, strategic, and advisory role under broad supervision (SFIA level 5 – Ensure, advise).
• Experienced and mature; strong in both cloud and security; analytical and pragmatic; explicitly not a junior.

Education:

• Master's degree or equivalent through extensive relevant experience.
• Certifications are a plus (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF/SABSA, FinOps and cloud security certifications).

Work Environment:

• Responsibility level: SFIA level 5 – Ensure, advise.
• Work regime: Full-time.
• Location: Brussels.
• Working conditions: At least two days a week in the office, in consultation with the team; remote work allowed (within Belgium).
• Team: Multidisciplinary, a mix of internal and external staff.
