Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Java Developer with strong experience in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in REST APIs, Kubernetes, Microsoft SQL Server, database performance tuning, stored procedures and enterprise integrations. The role will involve developing scalable backend services, optimizing application and database performance, supporting containerized deployments and collaborating closely with DevOps and cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Application Development

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build robust and maintainable RESTful APIs following Microservices architecture principles.
• Design loosely coupled, resilient and highly available microservices.
• Implement clean, testable and reusable code following established coding standards and best practices.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical solution design.

2. Microservices & API Development

• Develop and enhance enterprise-grade microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement RESTful APIs and integrate services with internal and third-party systems.
• Work with API Gateway, Service Discovery and OpenFeign-based service communication.
• Implement circuit breaker and resiliency patterns using technologies such as Resilience4j or Hystrix.
• Ensure APIs are secure, scalable and optimized for performance.

3. Messaging & Enterprise Integration

• Develop event-driven and asynchronous processing solutions using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Integrate backend services with enterprise and third-party applications.
• Design reliable communication patterns between distributed services.
• Troubleshoot integration failures and ensure reliable data exchange across systems.

4. Kubernetes & Containerized Deployment

• Deploy, manage and troubleshoot backend applications running on Kubernetes clusters.
• Work with Docker-based containerized application deployments.
• Support Kubernetes configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring and operational activities.
• Work with Helm for application deployment and configuration where required.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve containerized deployment and release processes.

5. Database Development & Performance Optimization

• Develop and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Write and maintain complex Stored Procedures, Functions, Views and Triggers.
• Analyze SQL query performance and implement optimization strategies.
• Perform indexing, execution plan analysis and database performance tuning.
• Support large-scale data processing and ensure efficient database interactions from backend applications.

6. DevOps & CI/CD

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Work with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Follow Git-based version control and branching strategies.
• Integrate code quality and security checks using tools such as SonarQube.
• Work with Maven/Gradle and artifact repositories such as Nexus or Artifactory.

7. Production Support & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot application, database, API and deployment issues in development and production environments.
• Analyze production incidents and identify root causes.
• Implement timely fixes and preventive measures for recurring issues.
• Participate in production support activities and ensure application stability and availability.
• Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

8. Code Quality & Collaboration

• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
• Mentor junior developers and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams and business stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement and technical discussions.
• Contribute to technical documentation and solution design activities.

Required Technical Skills & Competencies

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• Strong experience with Java 8/11/17.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA and Spring Security.
• Strong knowledge of Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and Microservices.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns and SOLID principles.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong experience writing and optimizing complex Stored Procedures, Functions, Views and Triggers.
• Strong SQL query optimization and database performance-tuning skills.
• Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle and CI/CD tools.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
