Summary
The Spotter is a union classification, and this employee is responsible for all duties of a Warehouse Associate, Shuttle/ Switch driver and LTL Driver.
A general warehouse labor job, requiring the ability to follow basic written and verbal instructions, such as bills of materials and shipping documents, or equivalent. With readily available supervision, workers operate a gas of electric powered forklift truck to move, stack, load, or unload materials in and about warehouse, staging area, etc. Work may include using banding and shrink wrap machines. Workers may use bar code readers, computer terminals or other electronic devices to track product as it is moved.
A Spotter may also be required to transport materials to and from specified destinations on public streets or highways. Drive diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily warehouse assignments as required
- Load and unload trailers in a safe and timely manner
- Receive product into proper warehouse locations
- Follow guidelines for proper product placement in the warehouse
- Maintain an orderly warehouse meeting safety requirements
- Participate in weekly inventory counts as required by management
- Ability to prepare for an audit
- Work in a timely, safe and responsible manner to meet customer requirements
- Complete trailer inspections and document correctly
- Ability to ensure trailers are locked out and chocked before loading/unloading
- Complete daily sanitation assignments and update Master Sanitation schedule
- Report any accidents or near misses to supervision immediately
- Clean product spills as soon as they occur
- Segregate allergens and non allergens in storage
- Case pick for customer orders when required
- Prepare all required paperwork
- Train new forklift operators as required by management
- Drives truck to destination to meet customer requirements.
- Drive in a safe and efficient manner under all circumstances.
- Have knowledge of and compliance with company policy and all federal, state, local laws and regulations governing the operation of company equipment
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
- Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations
- Prepares receipts for load picked up.
- Maintains contact with supervisor or dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
- Loads and unloads truck protecting the load and equipment.
- Inspects truck& trailer equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
- Positions blocks and secures cargo during transit.
- Report all accidents or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
- Prepares and submits daily paperwork that is legible.
Other duties as assigned by management.
