POSITION SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The main function of this position is to inspect incoming merchandise from vendors for accuracy.
INTERACTION:
- Interaction with other associates and leads in the department.
- Some interaction with other individuals within the distribution center and company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain unloading documents for the merchandise.
- Locate merchandise on the receiving dock.
- Verify the P.O. number and number of cartons and pallets against the checking document. If errors are noted, contact lead or supervisor. Once information is verified as correct, proceed with next step.
- Calculate percent of cartons to verify in each order based on merchandise type.
- Open the required number of cartons in accordance with determined calculations.
- Inspect the contents of each carton to ensure all merchandise meets inspection criteria (counts, tickets, region of origin tags, etc.).If merchandise meets inspection criteria, sign and date unloading document and place with pallet.
- If any inspected merchandise does not meet inspection criteria, note variance on unloading document and forward the document to the merchandise liaison. Fill out problem tag and place with pallets.
- Clean the area around the assigned workstation, including returning all the materials to their original locations.

- May be required to perform other processing functions or to move to other departments to work, based on business needs.

- Must be able to stand during the entire assigned shift.

- Annual performance appraisal administered by the respective supervisor.
- Attainment of annual goals established between supervisor and incumbent.
