Entry-Level Education Analyst
RTI International’s Education and Workforce Development (EWD) Center for Survey Design, Data Collection, and Analysis has an opening for an Education Analyst 1 to assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for large-scale survey and analytic studies in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education. The Center offers state-of-the-art capabilities in all aspects of designing and conducting cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys and administrative data collections.
The successful candidate will have an investigative and innovative mindset to assist with and support instrument design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting activities. The position is in RTI’s main offices in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development of survey questionnaire(s) or other data collection instruments to meet project measurement and analytic needs
Assist with review and revision of survey instruments to assure proper format and sequence of questions, adequacy of instructions to interviewers and respondents, and suitability of the questions for survey population
Provide support for data collection activities, working closely with staff to monitor data collection and carry out quality control (QC) activities
Assist with training data collection staff
Assist with the development of data file documentation
Write simple programs in SAS, Stata, and/or R
Assist in the preparation of statistical tables and graphics for project reports and related presentations
Assist with the research and literature reviews of published and web-based education research information sources, and write summaries of articles.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a social science or related field (May 2020 graduates considered)
Coursework in statistics and social science research methods
Documented experience with SAS, Stata, or R (e.g., programming code or on college transcript)
Strong oral and written communication skills (Cover letter to accompany resume)
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
Ability to manage competing tasks
Ability to work independently and with teams, and to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
Requires Position of Trust Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using logic and reasoning to identify and investigate data anomalies.
Experience conducting or supporting social science research, such as through a senior thesis or internship
