Immunization Provider Support Assistant

(200003JC) Job Duties

The Ohio Department of Health is seeking 20 temporary employees to assist the Ohio Immunization Program in our supplemental influenza vaccine response. Our goal is to increase adult influenza vaccine coverage during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Now more than ever, the State needs people who can make a difference. Ohio needs you!

Primary duties:

Provide onboarding and outreach for new immunization providers who register online to receive public influenza vaccine

Assure vaccine providers have the capacity to provide patient care (i.e. give immunizations), appropriately store vaccine inventory, order vaccines online and report doses given in ImpactSIIS through education, training and support for their assigned providers

Support enrollment of new providers to receive public funded influenza and pandemic vaccine

Collect and record information into a database

Provide medical providers with approved information about Ohio vaccination procedures

Use a telephone, computer and electronic equipment to communicate and capture data

Maintain daily contact with supervisor

Ohio resident preferred and familiarity with Ohio geography; cities/towns/locations required.


This job is primarily a telework position from your residence. There may be a need to travel occasionally to the Immunization Program’s Central Office, 35 East Chestnut Street, Columbus Ohio

Project Duration: This Special Project position may last through June 30, 2021.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; handle sensitive inquiries, requests, complaints &/or transactions received in writing &/or by telephone, e-mail, teletype, in-person &/or other means of communication with variety of internal & external customers, some of whom may be irate; generate routine business correspondence using standard practices; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; write &/or edit materials for publication or speeches to be delivered to specialized audiences & general public; establish friendly atmospheres as lead worker; work alone & cooperate with co-workers on group projects.
