School of Medicine:
Established in 1930, Duke University School of Medicine is the youngest of the nation’s top medical schools. Ranked tenth among its peers, the School takes pride in being an inclusive community of outstanding learners, investigators, clinicians, and staff where traditional barriers are low, interdisciplinary collaboration is embraced, and great ideas accelerate translation of fundamental scientific discoveries to improve humanhealth locally and around the globe.
Comprised of 2,400 faculty physicians and researchers, the Duke University School of Medicine along with the Duke University School of Nursing and Duke University Health System create Duke Health. Duke Health is a world-class health care network. Founded in 1998 to provide efficient, responsive care, the health system offers a full network of health services and encompasses Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, Duke Primary Care, Private Diagnostic Clinic, Duke Home and Hospice, Duke Health and Wellness, and multiple affiliations.
The Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI), a part of Duke University Medical Center, occupies a place of national and international leadership in the fight against major diseases. The DMPI is a multi- and inter-disciplinary Institute at Duke University encompassing basic and translational investigators across a variety of scientific disciplines. Our mission is to produce integrated multi-omics and physiologic profiles of chronic human diseases, and to use such profiles to develop new disease detection strategies, novel therapies, and insights into disease mechanisms. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with relevant skills for a new Postdoctoral Associate position.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work with Dr. Yi-Ju Li, Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and faculty member of DMPI, to study the genetics of Alzheimer disease (AD) and postoperative outcomes after cardiac surgeries. This position will work closely with methodology development, computer program development, and genome wide genetic data analysis. The primary area of methodology development will be in the area of association tests for quantitative and survival outcomes. Other new methodological topics may be pursued as well. The work will include computer programs development such as R packages. The Postdoctoral Associate will also involve in analyzing large genome wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and whole genome and exome sequence data for various phenotypes. Through these projects, the postdoctoral fellow will develop his/her research expertise in both theoretical and applied domains of statistical genetics. He/she will develop statistical analysis plan (SAP) and write summary reports, and participate in manuscript development as the first author or a co-author. He/she will have the access to state of the art computing system for human genetic studies at DMPI.
