The Risk Management Coordinator will maintain company-wide safety risks and provide organized and thorough training when needed. This position maintains the safety policies and procedures of the entire company to certify we are compliant with FMCSA, OSHA and applicable Federal and State regulations at all times. This position identifies opportunities and implements change to safety processes and training to ensure optimum workplace and driver safety. This position is to coach and train the Safety Culture to all Pottle’s staff while on and off the job.

  • Manage accident investigations from start to finish, making cost and reimbursements top priority.
  • Audit driver logs to ensure accuracy and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, identifying all problems and providing training as needed.
  • Assist with training for coaching on Smartdrive events and follow documentation policy. This includes the responsibility of overseeing and monitoring Smartdrive events by incorporating each incident into our Disciplinary Program to ensure all drivers have forward-facing cameras and driver-facing cameras as needed.
  • Assist with driver orientation as needed.
  • Continuously assist Fleet Managers on driver information needed to be safe and successful.
  • Assist in ensuring all equipment is registered and permitted correctly and timely.
  • Assist the Safety Department in training other personnel in duties and responsibilities concerning Safety.
  • Assist in continuous safety training for drivers and non-drivers (Ex. Pre-Trip Inspections, Winter Driving, etc.)
  • Assist in effective routing for drivers to reduce cost and keep drivers safe.
  • Stay abreast of changes to existing industry standards and regulations as well any new regulatory requirements to ensure the Company is in full compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations. Work effectively with the Safety Department to implement and communicate those changes to all personnel when needed.
  • As part of the Safety Team, attend and assist in any Safety-related functions like the Safety Meetings, Driver Meetings, MMTA Banquets, etc.
  • Assist in compliance with all OSHA regulations for the company as well as training other personnel on related OSHA training and OSHA safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) – Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year College or Technical School) – Preferred.


  • Five years of experience in the Transportation Industry with a focus on Safety.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of State and Federal DOT Regulations.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (or must obtain within six months of hire).


This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of times, the ability to use hands or fingers to handle and reach. Requires dexterity sufficient to enter data and communicate electronically. Must be able to hear and speak to communicate sufficiently by telephone and in person, see sufficiently to examine documents and view a computer monitor. The position also requires that ability to stand, walk and frequently lift up to 10lbs.
