Position Summary

Salem Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Girls Volleyball Coach to lead its varsity volleyball program. The coach will be responsible for cultivating a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture that promotes student-athlete development, both on and off the court. This individual will play a key role in advancing the mission of Salem Academy by mentoring young women and modeling the values of integrity, perseverance, and respect.

The Head Volleyball Coach is expected to build and sustain a strong volleyball program, while supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of student-athletes. This position requires a leader who demonstrates professionalism, strategic planning, and a passion for empowering students through athletics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive volleyball program focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor student-athletes, encouraging academic success, personal responsibility, and leadership.
  • Create structured, engaging practices and competitive game plans aligned with the team's developmental goals.
  • Develop a program that attracts and retains student-athletes through effective coaching and a strong team culture.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with students, families, and the broader Salem Academy community.
  • Ensure the volleyball program upholds the school’s values and meets league and institutional standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the athletic department to support the overall student experience.
  • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van to away games.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior coaching or playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level
  • A demonstrated commitment to the development of young women through athletics.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and representative of Salem Academy’s values.
  • Clean Driving Record

Physical Functions

While performing the responsibilities of the Head Girl’s Volleyball Coach the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand, walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
