Position Overview: TEA’s Performance Reporting division seeks to ensure continuous improvement in the academic achievement of all Texas public school students by 1) developing and implementing transparent, rigorous, and fair academic accountability systems, 2) providing accurate and comprehensive academic performance reporting systems, tools, and trackers and 3) monitoring and validating data to ensure the integrity of these systems.
The Accountability Content and Communications Coordinator reports to the Director of Policy and Communications. This role is pivotal in developing, implementing, and overseeing communication strategies to ensure transparency, consistency, and effectiveness in accountability practices.
Content: As a key member of the Policy and Communications team, the Coordinator is responsible for creating and executing a resource communications plan for the creation, review, and editing of Performance Reporting documents, resources, and explanatory materials posted on the Performance Reporting websites. These materials provide educators with clear, concise, visually appealing, and accurate information about the Texas Accountability systems. This additionally includes accountability manual chapters, glossaries, and guidelines documents. Additionally, the Coordinator ensures the accessibility of all posted materials and maintains division web pages (both public (A-F Accountability, Performance Reporting, TXschools, ESSA) and secure (TEAL)).
Communications: The Accountability Content and Communications Coordinator is also responsible for providing clear and accurate communications to various stakeholders, including employees, management, and external partners, to promote understanding of and adherence to accountability policies and procedures. As a member of the Policy and Communications team, this role also includes opportunities for analysis of accountability data and policy, supporting accountability presentations and trainings, and providing other written communications, consultative services, and technical data assistance to support districts and schools to enhance student outcomes.

This job posting represents two openings within the Office of Analytics, Assessment and Reporting.

Essential Functions
Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned.
1. Accountability Content Creation: Coordinates the design, development, and/or revisions of Performance Reporting documents, resources, explanatory materials, glossaries, guidelines, and accountability manual chapters posted on the Performance Reporting websites according to the Performance Reporting Policy and Communications calendar. Carefully manages time and project plan to ensure on-time delivery, at a high level.
2. Customer Service and Stakeholder Management: Prepares, edits, and communicates responses to the Performance Reporting Inbox and voicemails by researching, asking additional questions, and providing accurate resources to address the various inquiries (including program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public) Develops partnership and trust through written communications. Demonstrate high level of initiative to source information to ensure thorough and accurate customer service.
3. Website Maintenance: Promotes accessible website communications and products to the accurate website in collaboration with the Communications and Website agency team. Creates, updates, and maintains division web pages (both public (Performance Reporting, TXschools, ESSA) and secure (TEAL)). Uses data and analytics to determine website improvement needed to increase usability and accessibility.
4. Performance Reporting Correspondence Deliverables: Prepares, edits, and communicates Official Performance Reporting Notifications/ Division correspondence including Gov Delivery Notifications, TAAs, and Weekly Bulletins specific to updates, releases, accountability topics, etc. Collects internal and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve Performance Reporting Correspondence.
5. Communications Team Support: Supporting Performance Reporting Communications work including, but not limited to, training, research, explanatory materials, and the annual ratings processes.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience: At least four (4) years of experience in public school accountability, technical writing, or in working with a program that required outreach, training, and ensuring the understanding of the program by its stakeholders
  • Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience
Other Qualifications
  • Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal assessment and accountability laws and regulations and the principles and practices of public administration and management
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to problems; to develop and evaluate policies and procedures; to prepare reports; and to communicate effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and a task orientation to ensure alignment to project management plans and statewide deadlines
  • Strong written communication skills, including using Word or other web-based document design applications
  • Strong active listening skills to determine stakeholder need or ask correctly
  • A self-starter who continuously seeks out opportunities to improve
  • Experience with explaining technical data methodology to various levels of stakeholder groups
  • Experience with website design and other user engagement modalities
  • Strong team player to adapt to other policy and communications needs, as assigned
