POSITION SUMMARY
The General Accounting Accountant will be responsible for performing various accounting and reconciliations work to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares analysis of ledger activity, reconciles, posts monthly journal entries to maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Prepare, analyzes various subsidiary accounts to the general ledger to ensure accurate posting and differences are reconciled.
- Maintains files to keep accurate records of accounting activities and documentation.
- Prepare audit Provided By Client (PBC) schedules, analyses, and other documents for audits and reviews as requested.
- Prepares, maintains and updates various schedules and distributes reports of accounting activities and documentation.
- Performs monthly cash reconciliations and various balance sheet account controls to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and update records needed to accurately prepare and file annual unclaimed property reports with the State of Illinois.
- Assist with monthly expense and accrual allocation and closing procedures.
- Knowledgeable in HUD regulations and accounting guidelines to ensure accuracy of accounting entries and records for reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Accounting or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related work experience. One to three years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles. Effective written, verbal, interpersonal and customer service communication skills. Knowledge of analytical techniques and excellent Excel skills.

SALARY RANGE: $60,000-$70,000
GRADE: S6
